The course is mainly comprised of trails, but there are also segments of the race on gravel and asphalt. The 5K begins near Bunker Tower and continues north on Bunker Loop and onto the Cheaha Express (yellow blaze). The course completes the Upper Spring Loop (green blaze), and connects back to Cheaha Express. Participants will then follow the Service Road to Tower Road where the course goes around the motel and takes runners to the one-of-a-kind Bigfoot Trail. This trail was built with help from the JSU Geography Club and highlights the seven principles of Leave No Trace! The Bigfoot Trail finishes near the Observation Tower at the highest point in Alabama. Who doesn't want to say they outran Bigfoot while racing to the highest point in Alabama?

All participants in the 5K will receive a short-sleeve runner t-shirt. All participants in the 1 mile fun have the option to purchase a short-sleeve runner t-shirt at reduced cost. Fun Run participants age 12 and under will receive a participation medal. Additional short sleeve t-shirts are available for purchase.
