Date: April 18, 2015 Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Event Description Earth Alive! Rain Barrel Workshop In celebration of upcoming Earth Day 2015, and just in time for the spring rains, Anniston Museum will provide the opportunity for people to attend a Rain Barrel Workshop. Environmental Consultant Jennifer Yates will lead the workshop with information on how to set up your rain barrel for optimum use, the ?earth? benefits of using rain barrels, as well as how to create your own barrels out of everyday products. Participants will also be able to view the Museum?s 3000 gallon mega-rain barrel, purchased by a grant from Legacy, Inc., and used for conservation watering Museum garden beds. Pre-purchase your own Earth Alive! rain barrel and reserve a seat in this fun and informative eco-workshop by calling 256-237-6766 or by e-mailing gmorey@annistonmuseum.org. Due to the nature of the hands-on portion of the program, the Earth Alive! Rain Barrel Workshop is limited to only 20 participants. The cost to participate is $35/person, and includes both the barrel that you will make and keep, plus the workshop registration fee. When you complete the workshop, you will be leaving with a rain barrel that is fully functional and ready to begin collecting rain water! The finished rain barrels are 41? tall, 70? in circumference and weigh approximately 10lbs empty. Please plan accordingly to be sure your vehicle can accommodate this size object for transport.
