Event Description The Museums in Lagarde Park, Anniston have some wonderful news for families looking for fun and educational summer activities to do together: returning for the second great year, Family Night at the Museum now includes both of Anniston’s fun-tastic Museums! Set for Thursday evening, July 31 from 5:30-9pm, Family Night will allow parents and children to experience all the fun of a Kid’s Night, together as a family! Grandparents, parents and children of all ages will enjoy the activities, and are sure to find it an evening to remember. The evening starts with a tour of Berman Museum of World History. If you’re brave enough, dare to descend into the depths of the Berman Museum, and into the rarely seen basement. There, you will explore the Museum vault, where many exotic and rare treasures from around the world are stored. After your adventure in the basement vault, you’ll trek next door to Anniston Museum of Natural History, where you will receive a souvenir flashlight and begin an in-the-dark tour of the darkened Exhibit Halls. Staff members will be available all along the way to share strange or little known facts, as well as to show some real live animals, up close and personal. Visit with the Curator and get a behind-the-scenes look at the Museum’s Collections area. Afterwards, enjoy a snack and some shopping in the Museum Store. Finally, wind up the evening of family fun and togetherness with an exciting “Awesome Animal” program, complete with snakes, alligators and bugs–oh my! While the programs and activities are suitable for children and adults of all ages, some of the behind-the-scenes areas are not stroller or wheelchair accessible. It’s an evening of good old-fashioned family fun at the Museums in Lagarde Park! Pre-registered admission is only $8/person for museum members or only $12/person for non-members; deadline for registration is July 15. “At the Door” admission for those who do not pre-register will be $15/adult and $10/child, regardless of membership status. The Museums require at least one adult for every four children, and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
