Oct 14    Anniston Museum's 2nd Annual Fall Fest
In October 2016, Anniston Museum hosted its first Falling for Fun Fall Festival. Thanks to the support of our community, it was a great success with over 450 people attending! Knowing the community loves autumn just as much as we do, we are thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Fall Festival! This year, the fall fun returns with even more oomph as we celebrate the beauty of nature and the leaves changing from green to a fire-like blaze, blue October skies, sweater weather, hot chocolate, Halloween, and more!

So what can you look forward to this year?

Exploring the world through Anniston Museum’s 8 Exhibit Halls, an abundance of live animals – including some creepy crawlers, thanks to the Alabama Herpetological Society and Noccalula Falls, hands-on wildlife education with the Sensory Safari Trailer, a haunted Bird of Prey trail, face painting, hay rides, trick-or-treating, a Halloween costume contest, and more!

Plus, we are happy to have Berman Museum join the festivities with Haunted History tours! The tours will take place on a fifteen minute rotation throughout the night. Haunted History entails a lights-out, lantern led guided tour through the Exhibit Halls focusing on macabre artifacts, local folklore, and historical figures. This night of horror is recommended for ages 10 and up. Anyone not up to braving the dark is welcome to enjoy Halloween cartoons in the lobby.

Oct 19    Kenny Loggins
Kenny Loggins' remarkable four-decade-plus career has brought him from the top of the charts to the toast of the Grammys. He's had smash hits on Hollywood's favorite soundtracks, rocked worldwide stages, and found his way into children's hearts while bringing his smooth, beautiful voice to platinum albums of a stunning variety of genres. His gift for crafting deeply emotional music is unparalleled, and it's been a part of his life as long as he can remember.

Though he's got 12 platinum albums, a pair of Grammys, and hits on almost all the Billboard charts under his belt, Loggins is far from done. Having just released his latest children’s project, the book Footloose (Moondance Press, an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group USA, October 17, 2016), inspired by his 1985 Oscar® nominated and Grammy® Award-winning “Song of the Year,” he's still looking forward to what's next. "I feel very lucky that this is the way I make my living, and not a lot of people can say that," Loggins says. "I've been lucky that I love what I do and I get to keep doing it."

Oct 31    Job Shadow Day
The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Anniston High School, Jacksonville High School, Oxford High School, and Piedmont High School to provide students an opportunity to shadow their future career.

Job shadowing enriches the lives of the students by exposing them with on-the-job experiences. By “shadowing”, students will acquire a real worldview of the type of work they are dreaming about for themselves. The Chamber feels this effort helps young adults understand that what they learn in the classroom leads to success in the workplace. It also gives businesses the opportunity to showcase skills needed by future employees.

Students will be responsible for their own transportation, or the school may agree to provide transportation for them. Students will contact their assigned business ahead of time to discuss safety procedures, promptness, dress code, lunch, and other expectations, and parents will sign a permission form for each participating student.
The Chamber will coordinate with your business to document and provide feedback for the students and schools.
Please contact us by Friday, October 20th if your business would like to participate.
