Feb 1 The Illusionists present Adam Trent |
The Illusionists has become the best-selling magic show in Broadway history selling $2.1 million in one week followed by a smash-hit US and world tour. One of the original Broadway stars has emerged and teamed up with The Illusionists producers to present a headline illusion show with scale and mass appeal not seen since the touring days of David Copperfield.
Adam Trent inaugurated the first two record-breaking Broadway runs on the US tour, becoming the face for most of the national and local press – including the NBC primetime TV special. His frequent TV appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show, and countless others, along with his own 10-episode TV series premiering May 2017 on Red Bull TV, further highlight his appeal to audiences of all ages.
Returning to his roots as a solo headliner, Trent brings his hits from the Broadway show along with never before seen material. The Illusionists Present The Magic of Adam Trent is an immersive entertainment extravaganza of magic, comedy, and music perfect for the entire family. |

Feb 15 Native Azalea 101 |
Third Thursday in the Longleaf Botanical Gardens program: This program is presented by Hayes Jackson in the James P. Roberts Education Classroom of the Longleaf Botanical Gardens and will delve into all the native azalea species of the southeastern USA and the numerous hybrids available from area nurseries. Whether you are a beginner or a gardener that needs a brush up on available selections and cultivars, this program is for you! Growing native azaleas can be challenging. We will cover the basics and offer some methods to ensure a glorious show of blooms and healthy plants. Great Back Yard Bird Count
Get your binoculars ready! Scientists need help from people like you in order to make the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) a success. The GBBC is an annual citizen-science project that asks novice bird watchers and lifelong bird enthusiasts alike to collect data that scientists will use to create a “real-time snapshot” of the locations of birds around the world. Scientists use this information to understand how populations of birds are changing from year to year. Program is free with gate admission and to overnight guests.

Feb 22 Sense and Sensibility |
CharACTers Theatrics and Gadsden State
proudly present Sense and Sensibility
A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart? |

Feb 23 Guys and Dolls |
JSU Drama presents the Broadway classic, Guys and Dolls!
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
Performed on the Ward Stage of the Stone Center for Performing Arts, JSU Campus.
All tickets $12. Order online or call (256) 782-5648 for tickets.

Feb 24 Guys and Dolls |

Feb 24 CASTkidz presents "Junie B. Jones" the musical |
It's Junie B.'s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie's friend, Lucille, doesn't want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting.
Featuring a tremendously loveable character and fun-filled songs, Junie B. Jones will capture your audience members' hearts just as the books captivated an entire generation of students. |

Feb 25 Sense and Sensibility |
CharACTers Theatrics and Gadsden State
proudly present Sense and Sensibility
Dates, Times, and Location:
A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart? |
