Dec 5    Ribbon Cutting for AOD Federal Credit Union's new student-run Branch inside Anniston High School

Ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of AOD Federal Credit Union’s Student-Run branch inside of Anniston High School.

AOD Federal Credit Union and Anniston High School will celebrate the opening of The Bulldog Branch at Anniston High School with a ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:00am.

Select community and school leaders will hear remarks from Mr. Edward Sturkie Sr., Career Tech Director, Dr. Charles D. Gregory, Principal, Darren Douthit, Anniston City Schools Superintendent and Gordon ‘Doc’ Williamson, AOD Federal Credit Union’s Chairman of the board beginning promptly at 10:00am.

We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of The Bulldog Branch at Anniston High School with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Through this partnership with Anniston High School we are able to help them continue to implement an initiative that brings real world financial literacy and education into the school and allows students enrolled in The Business Finance Program, overseen by Mrs. Nicole Bell, to gain real-life experience and preparation for both college and future careers. Students will earn course credit and gain hands on experience as they manage and operate an AODFCU Branch.

We are excited to present this unique partnership with Anniston High School to the community and media. It is a very proud moment for everyone involved. We believe that financial literacy and personal financial management are important life skills that will benefit these students well into their futures.

This initiative allows 4 students who work along-side a teacher, Nicole Bell to lead the student-run branch. The students received in-depth training that prepared them for operating The Bulldog Branch at AHS. Students are not only handling cash and opening new accounts, but also implementing growth strategies through a marketing plan developed by the students. The student-run branch is not open to the general public. Students, faculty and staff have daily access to the financial services provided by The Bulldog Branch at Anniston High School.

Dec 12    Opportunity Zone
Buried in the tax reform bill that was signed into law last December is a new place-based economic development program that could eventually lead to billions in investment in certain designated communities. The program offers a series of tax incentives to investors who deploy capital gains into "Opportunity Zones" - certain historically low-income Census designated by Governor Ivey back in March. Alex Flachsbart, founder of Opportunity Alabama (www.opportunityalabama.com [opportunityalabama.com]), the first statewide nonprofit educational organization around Opportunity Zones in the country, will explain the incentives that comprise this new program and how investors can receive them. He will then explore how the tool may be used to finance active businesses and real estate investment in these Opportunity Zones - and how that investment might benefit developers, business owners, and local communities.

Dec 13    Groundbreaking for Dirty Dog's Car Wash in Oxford

Dirty Dog’s Car Wash breaks ground on new Express Wash and Detailing Center in Oxford, AL

Oxford, AL. (December 03, 2018) – Dirty Dog’s Car Wash has broken ground on a new car wash at 1826 US -78 in Oxford, AL.  The new express car wash and detail center will be the company’s first location in Alabama, and will offer an array of customized options from express washes, full service detailing, free vacuums, and unlimited wash packages.

“We are very excited to be opening our new state-of-the-art car wash in this great community. Our safe-entry wash tunnel will be one of the longest in the southeast, providing more friction and high-pressure water streams for a better exterior clean,” said Yeovany Perez, Operations Manager.

Dirty Dog’s Car Wash will also offer a “Helping Heroes” wash package and gives 10% of the proceeds to local first responders. Other monthly unlimited wash packages will cost between $19 and $29 depending on the level of service. In addition, they will be one of the only washes in the area to offer full service detailing options. The new location is expected to be completed in early Spring of 2019.

New Procedures.

First time at CMP Talladega, you must complete two separate requirements: CMP Safety briefing and sign a CMP Liability Agreement before heading out to Range 5. You may print and complete the waiver in advance or pick one up at the range. This process should take less than 20 minutes. After completing the orientation and paper work, come down to Range 5 which is west of the Main Club House.

You do not have to be a USPSA member to shoot this match. Non-members welcome and encouraged. Non-members should enter "U" for unclassified for their USPSA number.

New to the sport or been awhile, select Squad 1. We will assist you through the match.

Classifiers: Matches normally have one USPSA classifier. This match has six. Reshoots on classifiers for submission to USPSA for classification purposes are by prior Match Director approval only, are only to be done after the match, and require additional match fees to be paid in advance. I DON'T INTEND TO GRANT "ANY" RESHOOTS ON CLASSIFIERS. Check with me for additional details. If you are an active member of USPSA, please include you USPSA number in your registration. If your number is entered into your registration prior to the start of the match, your classifier will be sent to USPSA to be included in your classification.

Second Firearm: If you would like to shoot a second firearm at the match (i.e. PCC), please complete the following steps: Register twice for the match on PractiScore either prior to the match or at Range 5 on the day of the match, pay the $30.00 fee for "each" registration. If you have any questions concerning these procedures, please let me know. When you go to the line to shoot, you should only have ONE firearm on your person in accordance with USPSA rules. Finally, we expect all shooters to help reset stages and paste targets. If you are shooting two firearms, you are going to be very busy. Dec 16    Christmas with The Westerlies
The Westerlies are a New York-based brass quartet comprised of four childhood friends from Seattle, Washington: Riley Mulherkar and Zubin Hensler on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Willem de Koch on trombone.

Formed in 2011, the self-described “accidental brass quartet” takes its name from the prevailing winds that travel from the West to the East. “Skilled interpreters who are also adept improvisers” (NPR’s Fresh Air), The Westerlies explore jazz, roots, and chamber music influences to create the rarest of hybrids: music that is both "folk-like and composerly, lovely and intellectually rigorous” (NPR Music). Equally at home in concert halls and living rooms, The Westerlies navigate a wide array of venues with the precision of a string quartet, the audacity of a rock band, and the charm of a family sing-along.

Dec 20    Lightwire presents A Very Electric Christmas
Lightwire Theater, known for their signature brand of dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling and music designed to evoke imagery, debuted their first holiday show “A Very Electric Christmas” in their hometown of New Orleans in December of 2013. This show has unique elements that may be customized and/or localized for your City or State, i.e., the fleur de lis at the top of the Christmas tree, the logo on the helmet, etc. This captivating and magical tale of adventure, friendship and love, centers around a young bird named Max, a familiar character to Lightwire Theater audiences and brings a whole new meaning to coming “home for the holidays.”
