Animals may not be doing homework to prep for school this fall, but they are putting their brains to work. Visitors are invited to meet the brightest animal minds at the Anniston Museum of Natural History! These wily critters do their research to make sure they can outsmart predators, prey, or others of their own kind. Guests will learn all about how various animals disguise themselves or take on certain behaviors in order to stay safe in the animal world. Seating is limited and based on a first come, first served basis. Program is included in museum admission. Members are free.

The birth of the cattle industry began at the end of the Civil War. Pioneers on their way to a new home realized the land was too dry to farm and instead would be perfect to raise cattle on. Thus, the era of the cowboy was born. Join the Berman Museum for the story of a cowboy who was not very lucky in keeping his clothing for himself in “Why Cowboys Sleep with Their Boots On” and a Wild West craft! This story time is appropriate for ages 5-9 and is free with paid museum admission. Pre-registration is required by calling 256-237-6261.

Join us for a complimentary day of fun at the Anniston Museums and Gardens (AM&G)! The exhibit halls will be open for all to explore at the Anniston Museum of Natural History and the Berman Museum. Educational live animal ambassadors will be making their special appearances in Anniston Museum’s exhibit halls and "Hands-on History" will take place in the Berman Museum’s galleries from 10:00 AM—2:00 PM. AM&G staff will be present throughout the exhibit halls to answer questions and give behind-the-scenes insight throughout the day. The Longleaf Botanical Gardens will be hosting a plant sale at the Greenhouses from 10:00 AM—2:00 PM. Baby Boy’s BBQ will be onsite with lunch available for purchase. So spend the full day with us and your family. This family-friendly day is sure to bring out the historian, botanist, and biologist in everyone!
