Oct 7    Chicks with Hits WITH TERRI CLARK, PAM TILLIS, & SUZY BOGGUSS
The stage was set to look like a living room with a large rug on the floor, three comfy chairs, end tables with flowers, and lots of different instruments.  All three ladies came on stage together and it was as if they invited you over to their house for a girls’ night to chat, laugh and sing some amazing songs. The banter back and forth in between songs was unscripted and so funny. Pam Tillis noted early on that they were only two weeks into the tour and she’d already figured out that you never know what Terri Clark was going to say; she was right. Clark kept us laughing all night with her one-liners.

Throughout the night each singer took turns belting out their hits while the other two backed them up on acoustic instruments and vocals. Let me tell you, not only do these ladies still have the pipes to sing, but they are pretty great at playing guitar, different percussion instruments and even bass guitar. Tillis told us she took up learning bass, especially for this tour. She had a tiny bass that looked like a mandolin and played it on several songs. The individual singing was great but the harmonies were out of this world. When the three of them would sing together it was angelic.

Oct 13    Anniston Museums and Gardens Fall Fest
Everyone throw on your best Halloween costume and make your way to Anniston Museums and Gardens on Saturday, October 13 for the 3rd Annual Fall Fest! This year, Fall Fest is incorporating the community’s favorite things into one spooktacular event. Join us as we celebrate the break in the Alabama summer heat and welcome the crisp air of autumn with live animal encounters thanks to the Alabama Herpetological Society and Dustbunnies and Dog Hair Petting Zoo. Get an up close and personal view of beautifully mounted specimen in the Sensory Safari Trailer, talk safety with our local firemen from the Anniston Fire Department and White Plains Fire Department, and enjoy a bouncy house and face painting. Are you afraid of the dark? The lights will be out in the Anniston Museum of Natural History’s Exhibit Halls to offer a different guest experience as you Explore Your World. We encourage everyone to take a walk and see what your museum looks and sounds like at night. Flashlights will be available for guests to use, but must be returned when exiting the Exhibit Halls. But wait! There’s more… the Berman Museum will transform from the museum of history to the museum of mystery! Sometimes the histories of objects obtained by museums are a little weird, strange, and even spooky at times. This tour is self-guided and offered throughout Fall Fest. The galleries will have low lighting and guests will move at their own pace. You will never know what you will discover around the next corner, so stay on the path! Tickets go on sale October 1 and we recommend you purchase tickets ahead of time to skip that line! All proceeds benefit AMNH’s Education Department so that we may continue to bring you fun, educational workshops, programs, and tours. *Museums will close at 3:00; last admission at 2:30

Oct 19    Tanya Tucker
Edgy. Classic. Country.

A defining voice of country music and a modern day legend, Tanya Tucker inspired many female artists who still top the charts today. From the signature classic songs to the unforgettable sass and soul of her voice, Tucker has paved a path in country music and beyond through an unprecedented level of success and continues her longevity today due to a natural, undeniable talent.

When producer Billy Sherrill received a demo tape of Tucker, he quickly signed her to a record deal at Columbia Records. Her style has proven to be timeless ever since she recorded her debut single “Delta Dawn,” at age 13. The single earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” and launched Tucker into the national spotlight during the beginning of her teenage years.

The 1990’s gave rise to some of Tucker’s most recognizable and career defining songs, “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane” and “It’s a Little Too Late.” New albums, along with multiple versions of greatest hits and live compilation projects, propelled Tucker to become one of the best selling female artists in country music. With a 1994 Super Bowl XXVIII halftime appearance, Tucker was a household name to stay.

Tucker’s latest honor, a special exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, gives visitors the chance to step into Tucker’s rich personal life. “Tanya Tucker: Strong Enough to Bend” runs through May 2015 and features many of Tucker’s favorite items from various eras of her career. From her pink Harley Davidson to her own line of salsa, Tucker’s life is chronicled in a never-before-seen way for fans to get up close and personal with the legend.

In February of 2017, Tanya performed at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for a packed house and was featured in Rolling Stone Magazine. She belted out Randy Travis’s “I Told You So,” paying tribute to her dear friend. She is currently out on her 2018 International Tour, including shows in Canada. She is managed by James Garner and Jerilyn Sawyer of Sawyer & Garner LLC and her agents are Lance Roberts and Nick Meinema of United Talent Agency. Stay tuned for a long awaited new album from the songbird herself.

Oct 20    Monthly USPSA
Hope you can join us for our next USPSA match at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. http://thecmp.org/competitions/matches/talladega-practical-shooters/

New Procedures.

First time at CMP Talladega, you must complete two separate requirements: CMP Safety briefing and sign a CMP Liability Agreement before heading out to Range 5. You may print and complete the waiver in advance or pick one up at the range. This process should take less than 20 minutes. After completing the orientation and paper work, come down to Range 5 which is west of the Main Club House.

Uncertain on your division, copy and paste the following link to your web browser: http://www.rbgc.org/USPSA/USPSAgear.htm

Still uncertain. Ask: tpsalabama@gmail.com

You do not have to be a USPSA member to shoot this match. Non-members welcome and encouraged. Non-members should enter "U" for unclassified for their USPSA number.

New to the sport or been awhile, select Squad 1. We will assist you through the match.

Classifiers: Matches normally have one USPSA classifier. This match has six. Reshoots on classifiers for submission to USPSA for classification purposes are by prior Match Director approval only, are only to be done after the match, and require additional match fees to be paid in advance. I DON'T INTEND TO GRANT "ANY" RESHOOTS ON CLASSIFIERS. Check with me for additional details. If you are an active member of USPSA, please include you USPSA number in your registration. If your number is entered into your registration prior to the start of the match, your classifier will be sent to USPSA to be included in your classification.

Second Firearm: If you would like to shoot a second firearm at the match (i.e. PCC), please complete the following steps: Register twice for the match on PractiScore either prior to the match or at Range 5 on the day of the match, pay the $30.00 fee for "each" registration. If you have any questions concerning these procedures, please let me know. When you go to the line to shoot, you should only have ONE firearm on your person in accordance with USPSA rules. Finally, we expect all shooters to help reset stages and paste targets. If you are shooting two firearms, you are going to be very busy. Your decision to shoot a second firearm should not be an inconvenience to your fellow shooters. Good luck.

Oct 21    The Wizard of Oz (Broadway National Tour)
“For nearly forty years this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart; and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion. To those of you who have been faithful to it in return …and to the Young in Heart …we dedicate this picture.”

When the dedication for the opening credits of the 1939 MGM classic The Wizard of Oz was written, no one could’ve imagined the lasting impact the movie would have on American culture. Or how accurate the assertion that ‘Time’ would be powerless to stop the story, was going to be.

The actual time it takes (just over one hundred minutes) to transport viewers from Kansas to the magical world of Oz and back again is relatively brief. But, as anyone who has viewed the movie knows, the story resonates much longer than that. Climatic lines such as, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore,” and “Lions and tigers and bears! Oh, my!” will never be forgotten. Judy Garland’s performance of “Over the Rainbow” has been hummed for decades and once heard, is forever emblazoned on hearts and in minds. That is the phenomenon of The Wizard of Oz.

A treasured film, The Wizard of Oz’s infiltration into American culture is undeniable and virtually unparalleled. From an international fan club that is over a half-century old and boasts over one thousand members, to the nearly one thousand documented references to The Wizard of Oz, its constant reemergence in culture and entertainment is overwhelming.

Quotes and references from The Wizard of Oz can be found in movies, music and sitcoms and no genre is left out. Everything from Star Wars and Clueless to “The Simpsons,” “Hannah Montana” and “The O’Reilly Factor,” pay tribute in reference to the beloved classic. In music, Pink Floyd, Madonna and Metallica have alluded to L. Frank Baum’s story. And in everyday life who doesn’t know a Wicked Witch of the West or every now and then want to simply click their heels three times to get home?

This production of THE WIZARD OF OZ is a spectacular celebration of that classic 1939 MGM film. It’s a new, refreshed and lavish rendition of the beloved classic. Audiences young and old, seeing it for the first time or the fifth, will be dazzled by the brightly colored sets, charmed by its timeless score and enthralled with its breathtaking special effects. It truly is a wonderful show for the whole family. And whether it creates new memories or conjures them up from the past, everyone deserves to experience or relive the wonderful, whimsical and enduring story, THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Oct 26    Resurrection: A TRIBUTE TO JOURNEY
Keyboardist, Vic White, first heard "the Voice" of Ryan Christopher while they performed with a popular Nashville-based 80's act in 2011. "Ryan knew one of the guys in the band, and he had been invited to sit in that night to sing Separate Ways and Lights with us", explains Vic. "The moment Ryan took the stage, my jaw hit the floor from watching his precise Steve Perry mannerisms and hearing his spot-on rendition of Perry's voice! Since I grew up a big Journey fan during the '80's, that was the most fun I had experienced on stage in quite some time."

Although the two exchanged contact information that night, Vic and Ryan were active with other bands; therefore, some time passed before destiny caught up with them. In the fall of 2013, Ryan reached out to Vic, expressing frustration with the stagnancy of his current band. "Ryan told me he needed a guitarist and a keyboardist to cover two remaining dates on his calendar and asked for the contact info of a talented guitarist I knew. The whole time Ryan's talking, I'm thinking, 'You said you needed a keyboardist, too…dude, what am I? Chopped liver'?" Ryan confessed, "I knew Vic was perfect for the gigs, but I didn't want to come between him and the band he was currently playing with. I sort of danced around the issue thinking if Vic was interested, he would see the opening." Fortunately, by the end of the conversation, Vic was invited to help assemble players for the two remaining gigs Ryan had on his books and perhaps resurrect Ryan's project in the process. Ryan recalls, "That night, while listening to Journey's latest album, Revelation, Vic and I came up with the name, 'Journey Resurrection', which later became 'Resurrection - A Journey Tribute'." Over the next 6 months, they put together what Journey fans would consider an all-star roster of musicians for the ultimate Journey tribute.

Setting out to create the most authentic Journey experience anyone has ever witnessed, Vic, Ryan, and the band spent countless hours discussing the look, sound, production, and FEEL needed for this Journey tribute to deliver a live experience that would resonate on the highest level with the most avid Journey fan. Over two rehearsals, the newly assembled musicians learned eight of Journey's greatest hits for a promotional video shoot. On March 10, 2014, at Gray's on Main in Franklin, TN, the band struck its first notes in front of a live audience. The response quickly validated the passion Vic and Ryan had poured into the project for half a year and cemented the reality that this was going to be much more than a rehearsal to cover two shows scheduled for Branson Landing that summer. Some hard-core Journey fans, who had been following Ryan's performances from years prior, traveled from as far away as Arkansas and Missouri to see what the recent Facebook buzz was all about. They were quickly struck with the power of the performance, a few singing along with tears welling in their eyes from the raw emotion of seeing a singer, they long hailed as the closest replica to the voice of Steve Perry, finally putting it all together with a band worthy of his amazing talent. Just one month later, the band sold out legendary Nashville music performance hall, 3rd & Lindsley, for its first full-length performance, and the response from those attending was spectacular. The band has been on a whirlwind journey ever since, growing quickly from a weekend-warrior act into one of the most highly sought after tribute experiences in the country.

Oct 29    Jason Bishop: Straight Up Magic
From his breathtaking Double Levitation to his cutting edge Op-Art and Plasma illusions, Jason Bishop features stunning & original state of the art magic. One thing that distinguishes Bishop is his virtuosity. Each show features award winning sleight of hand, exclusive grand illusions and close-up magic projected onto a huge movie screen. No other touring illusionist showcases such a diverse array of talents. Additionally, the show is delivered with a totally modern energy and an outstanding rock & pop soundtrack.

“I am recommending you and your fabulous
show to all of my colleagues.”
Christine Brown, UMASS Lowell Center for the Arts – Lowell, MA

The show is surprisingly funny and truly magical. Bishop cuts through the usual hype and focuses on entertaining audiences with one remarkable illusion after another. Each routine is presented in his unique style. Some pieces feature more laughs than are typically expected from an illusionist, while other effects literally demonstrate sleight of hand skill performed at a world-class level.

“…a huge success! People were talking about this show for days and days after the performance! They immediately requested that Jason Bishop return…”
Carolyn Brode, Gorton Performing Arts Center – Lake Forest, IL

Jason engages the audience on and offstage. He touches them with a snow filled theatre and piques their imaginations when a borrowed dollar bill generously transforms into a one hundred dollar bill. Intelligent lighting, engaging audience participation and countless costume changes by his assistant Kim are added elements that help make each performance unforgettable.

“Great show – and our Patrons loved it, young and old.”
Lara Plocha, Imperial Theatre – Augusta, GA

2007 saw Illusionist Jason Bishop recognized by his peers when he was awarded magic’s prestigious “Jack Gwynne award for Excellence in Presentation”. The previous year college campuses voted him A.P.C.A.’s “Best Performing Artist of the Year”.
