Nov 1    Active Shooter Training
Would you and your employees know what to do in the event of an active shooter entering the workplace? The Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center is hosting an Active Shooter Training on Friday, November1, at 9:00 A.M. District Attorney Chief Investigator, Alex Ference, will be giving information and discussing how to respond to an active shooter event. In addition, tips for how to avoid becoming a victim during the holiday shopping season will be given.

Chief Investigator Alex Ference has been with the DA’s Office for 19 years and previously worked at the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office as a deputy and investigator for 5 years. He is a former US Army Military Policeman serving both active and reserve duty and has M.S. and B.S. degrees from JSU, specializing in Criminal Justice. He will be teaching the CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) course which is a program focusing on the ADD (Avoid, Deny, Defend) strategy. It is designed to give a person the basic understanding on how best to start planning and responding to high stress situations and violent encounters such as workplace violence, active shooter events, and other life-threatening incidents.
