Join us for the 22nd Annual Economic Forum, presented by the Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center and the Jacksonville State University College of Business & Industry!

Refreshments will be served at 7:30 AM and the program will begin at 8 AM. Attendance is free for Chamber members and $15 for non-Chamber members.

Jay Culver, Managing Director, Rates & Commodity Risk Management, Regions Bank




Mr. Culver serves as a Managing Director within the Rates & Commodity Risk Management division at Regions Bank, covering various geographies as well as the Energy & Natural Resources Industry group. Jay has over 25 years of experience in financial risk management including interest rates, commodities and foreign exchange. Prior to joining Regions in 2007, Mr. Culver was a Principal in Bank of America’s derivatives group providing risk management solutions to corporate clients in the Consumer / Retail and Paper, Packaging and Forest Products industry groups and was a team leader for Middle Market Derivatives in the Mid-West. In addition to these capital market roles, Jay also has experience in lending through positions with Wachovia Corporation and the Farm Credit System.
A native of Aurora, NY, Mr. Culver received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Tulane University. In addition, Jay is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Repair Details: Eligible repair work is limited to: wheelchair ramps, exterior painting, deck and porch repairs. There will be no interior work, and no roof work also due to changes in liability insurance coverage.

Mar 19    Community Lecture Series
The Advising and Retention Center at Gadsden State Community College is hosting the Community Lecture Series this month on the East Broad and Ayers campuses. The focus of the series is civic and financial responsibility. The series is free and open to the public.

“It is my belief that the goal of education should not only be to provide students with content information but to also prepare them to be well-rounded and productive members of society,” said Tara Dumas, an academic counseling specialist at Gadsden State and organizer of the lecture series. “The series provides an avenue to address topics that may not be covered in the classroom but are beneficial to the success of our students.”

The Community Lecture Series kicks off with three days of speakers in the lecture hall of the Science Building on the East Broad Campus in Gadsden. Each session will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Jamie Lee Grant, a commissioner for Etowah County’s District 3, will speak on the importance of fostering knowledge and promoting development skills that will prepare students to be informed, thoughtful and productive citizens. His session will be March 5.

On March 6, Tiffany Belyeu will speak on financial wellness. Belyeu, the manager of the Regions Bank in Glencoe, will teach skills aimed at building personal financial understanding and responsibility.

Tommie Goggans III, a financial advisor as well as the president of the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation, will present a session titled “Where’s the Money?” Attendees will receive knowledge about the markets and economics as well as information about higher education financing and repayment.

The Community Lecture Series will then move to the lecture hall of the Cheaha Center on the Ayers Campus in Anniston. Goggans will again present the “Where’s the Money?” session on March 19.

On March 20, Angelique Davis, the manager of the Eastside Regions Bank in Gadsden, will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage money effectively.

The Community Lecture Series will wrap up on March 21 when Jackson Hodges, the public relations director for the City of Anniston, discussing civic responsibility.

Dumas said she’s proud to offer programming that is beneficial to both students and the community.

“Individuals within the local community can learn and apply the information from the lecture series to hopefully improve their daily lives,” she said.

Join us for an exciting event March 22nd & 23rd as world champion athletes come to Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL to compete in the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office PCA Pro Rodeo presented by Cooper Chevrolet and the City of Oxford. 

Gates open each night at 5 pm with Mutton Bustin' starting at 6:30 pm and the Rodeo starting at 7:30 pm.
