about us

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a program of Jacksonville State University (JSU) and is a department of the School of Business & Industry (SBI). The JSU SBDC's primary mission is to assist current and prospective small business owners in the area. The SBDC accomplishes its mission through the use of professional staff members and through support by many partners throughout the coverage region. Since its beginning in 1981, the JSU SBDC has contributed to the economic vitality of Alabama by helping generate sales and jobs for Alabama businesses. The SBDC is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration and resource entrepreneurs can turn to for assistance. The SBDC is available to assist aspiring entrepreneurs turn ideas in businesses, help small firms with expansion, and can provide information that a business needs to make critical decisions. SBDC services are free and include one-on-one counseling, research library, government procurement assistant, technology assistance, workshops, and conferences.
