VeoRide rolls out first regional bike share system in Alabama

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – VeoRide is rolling out a dockless bike share program at Jacksonville State University
(JSU) and its three neighboring communiYes of Anniston, Oxford, and Jacksonville in early December.
Approximately 180 teal VeoRide bikes will be available for rent either by a pay-as-you-go arrangement or
through a membership plan.
Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, and JSU have been working with the bikeshare consulYng and
implementaYon firm, Bantam Strategy Group, to idenYfy the best bikeshare system and partner for the

customers to locate a nearby bike via their smart phone and unlock the joy of bike riding for a quick
commute or simply a ride to enjoy the outdoors. Micro-mobility includes all modes of short-distance
transportaYon, including standard pedal bikes, e-assisted bikes and e-scooters. The iniYal agreement, at
no cost to the University or three communiYes, will include standard VeoRide bikes, with the opYon to

Toby Bennington, City of Anniston Director of Economic Development and City Planning. “We are
pleased to be partnering with each other and VeoRide to make bikeshare a reality for our ciYzens, JSU
students, and visitors.”
To rent a bike, simply download the VeoRide app and locate a bike. Then, open Bluetooth on your phone,
scan the QR code on the bike or enter the bike’s ID to unlock it, and ride. At the end of your ride, park at
one of several designated parking locaYons idenYfied in the app and simply push the buhon on the bike
lock to end the trip.
“There’s great synergy between these three community and university, and we believe this will be a
successful partnership,” said Candice Xie, CEO of VeoRide. “VeoRide provides an easy and affordable way
to travel, whether to it’s an easy trip across campus or a quick trip in town.”
Current pay-as-you-go bike rental rates start at 50 cents for 15 minutes. Day passes are $6.99 and include
